What is Amanah?
Amanah is a private place to record money you owe, money people owe you, payments and important assets.
You can also choose people you trust. They can help Amanah check on you if you stop replying.

Why should I record an asset in Amanah?
Some assets may be known only to you. Recording them helps the right people know they exist if something happens to you.
- Land your family does not know about
- Money held in a particular account
- Gold stored privately
- Money someone is keeping for you
- Property in another location
Do I have to know how much my asset is worth?
No. Approximate value is optional. Sometimes the most important thing is recording that the asset exists and where relevant information can be found.

Use "Owed to me" when another person owes you money as a debt.
Use "Money held for me" when the money still belongs to you but another person is keeping it. If Musa borrowed ₦500,000, that is owed to you. If Musa is keeping your ₦500,000 for safekeeping, record it as an asset.

Not currently. Bank and asset records are information you choose to enter. Amanah does not require your online banking password.

Are my debts and assets private?
Yes. While your account is active, trustees cannot simply browse your records. Public Amanah Search does not reveal debts, assets, values, payment history, evidence or trustee details.

No. Do not store bank passwords, ATM or card PINs, safe combinations, recovery phrases or authentication secrets. Record enough to identify an asset without storing credentials.

Your account uses secure sign-in, and your documents and records are private.
Your trusted people and anyone searching for you cannot open your records while you are active.

What is my Amanah ID?
Your Amanah ID is a unique code connected to your account, such as AM-HKQD-SNFR.
You can share it with people you trust. It does not give anyone access to your records.

Yes. Public search supports Amanah ID and phone number. A possible match does not reveal financial records; it only allows Amanah to route an appropriate request.

Names are often shared and can produce incorrect matches. Amanah uses Amanah ID and phone number because they provide a more reliable way to locate the correct record.

No. Trustee names and contact details are not shown through public search.

What does a trustee do on Amanah?
A trustee is someone you choose to help Amanah check on you if we cannot reach you. They cannot open your account while you are active.
Being a trustee does not automatically give access to your records.

No. Trustees cannot see your debts, assets, payments, documents or private notes while you are active.
Link to this answerWill a trustee know that I added them?
You decide. You can let them know, in which case Amanah sends their role and your Amanah ID, or keep them unaware for now.
If you choose “Don’t tell them yet,” they receive nothing when you add them. Amanah may contact them later if we cannot reach you.

They may receive your name, notice that you selected them, your Amanah ID and an explanation of their role. They do not receive your debts or assets.

Why does Amanah ask if I’m okay?
Life Check helps Amanah know that you are okay. When we ask, simply tap “I’m okay.”

You choose how often Amanah checks on you: every 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 months. You can change this later in Settings.
Link to this answerWhat happens if I don’t respond to an activity check?
Nothing unlocks automatically. Amanah sends reminders after 7, 14, and 21 days.
If you still do not reply after the final reminder, Amanah may ask your trusted people if they know whether you are okay.
Your records remain locked. Missing a Life Check is not proof that you have died.

We ask whether they know if you are okay. They can say you are okay, they cannot reach you, or something may be wrong.

Amanah keeps everything locked. If there is doubt, nothing is released.

Can one trustee unlock my Amanah?
No. All three required trusted people must confirm and every other check must be complete. If there is doubt, everything stays locked.

Legacy Access is the process Amanah follows if there is a real reason to believe something has happened to you.
It may involve trustee responses, supporting evidence, owner contact attempts, a safety period and platform review.

No. Non-response starts additional checks. It does not automatically release debts, assets, evidence or other private information.

Tap “I’m okay.” Amanah stops the process, keeps your records private and resets your next Life Check.

They only see the records Amanah has approved for that situation. They never receive your full account or private session.
They do not receive your password or unrestricted control of your account.

Where available, your Legacy settings decide which kinds of records may be shared after all checks are complete.

What is an external claim?
A claim is a report from someone who says a debt may involve you. Amanah does not add it to your records automatically.
Link to this answerCan anyone submit a claim?
Where the feature is available, people may submit claims, but submission does not make a claim true. Identity details, evidence and further review may be required, and abusive claims may be restricted.

No. Owner-recorded debts and external claims remain separate. A claim does not silently become part of your official debt history.

Can I download my Amanah records?
Yes. You can download a PDF or CSV copy from Settings and choose which records to include.
Link to this answerIs an Amanah export proof that a debt or asset is legally valid?
Not automatically. An export reflects information stored in Amanah when it was generated. It is not automatically a bank statement, certified title, court-certified evidence or proof that an external claim is valid.

Can I delete my Amanah account?
Yes. You can request deletion in Settings. Some information may need to stay temporarily for an open case, dispute or safety reason. Amanah explains this before you confirm.

Yes. On a supported browser, choose Add to Home Screen. Amanah will then appear on your phone like an app.
